Why does the Software use Tokenization?
Tokenization protects card data when it’s in use and at rest. It converts or replaces cardholder data with a unique token ID to be used for subsequent transactions. This eliminates the possibility of having card data stolen because it no longer exists within your environment. Tokens can be used in card not present environments such as e-commerce or mail order/telephone order (MOTO), or in conjunction with encryption in card present environments. Tokens can reside on your POS/PMS or within your e-commerce infrastructure (at rest) and can be used to make adjustments, add new charges, make reservations, perform recurring transactions, or perform other transactions (in use).

Do I need to back-up my QuickBooks Company Files before I installing QuickBooks Payments?
This Plug-In does not touch any of the QuickBooks file(s) or registry file(s) for your QuickBooks software. It pushes and pulls information back and forth through a secure session. It is always good common practice to back-up your QuickBooks Company Files prior to any installation or updates to QuickBooks or Plugins which interact with it.

Back-ups should be in 2 locations: Hard Drive and another location: CD, USB, Network Backup Drive, external Backup Drive, etc.

It is also good common practice for QuickBooks to not have your Company Files in the QuickBooks directory or in a common folder like “My Documents” or “Desktop”
